    A social networking platform for cancer patients and cancer survivors to offer peer support and share their personal stories and experiences.

Cancer Research
  • Alberta Research Tumor Bank
    The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation - Prairies/NWT Chapter, currently funds the Alberta Research Tumor Bank (ARTB) and is created by a merger of components of two existing Tumor-banking initiatives, the CLS Repository in Calgary and the Tumor bank of the PolyomX Program in Edmonton.
  • Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research (AHFMR)
    The Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research supports a community of researchers who generate knowledge that improves the health and quality of life of Albertans and people throughout the world.  Its commitment is to fund basic, patient and health research based on international standards of excellence and carried out by new and established investigators and researchers-in-training.
  • Canadian Institutes of Health Research – Institute of Cancer Research
    The CIHR Institute of Cancer Research supports research to reduce the burden of cancer on individuals and families through prevention strategies, screening, diagnosis, effective treatment, psycho-social support systems, and palliation.
  • National Cancer Institute of Canada
    The National Cancer Institute of Canada acts in concert with its partner the Canadian Cancer Society, and with the Terry Fox Foundation, to provide support for cancer research and related programs undertaken at Canadian universities, hospitals and other research institutions.
  • National Institutes of Health (United States)
    Although based in the United States, the National Institutes of Health fund cooperative research initiatives that involve Canadian scientists and physicians.

  • 5 a Day the Color Way
    This American food and nutrition program is a partnership between the National Cancer Institute (U.S.) and the Produce for Better Health Foundation. The website includes special information designed for children and educators.
  • 5 to 10 a Day for Better Health
    This is the official website of the national "5 to 10 a day" campaign to promote vegetable and fruit consumption. The site includes a large database with recipe suggestions for a wide variety of fruits and vegetables.
  • Alberta Farm Fresh Producers Association (AFFPA)
    AFFPA is dedicated to supporting the production of farm direct market vegetable crops, berry and fruit crops, bedding plants, perennials, herbs, flowers, meats, poultry, eggs and other specialty items in Alberta.
  • Dietitians of Canada
    Promoting health through food and nutrition, Dietitians of Canada is the nation-wide voice of dietitians. This website provides comprehensive information on food and nutrition, and related programming.
  • Freggie Tales
    Freggie and Freggie Tales represents the promotion efforts of the “5 to 10 a day” campaign for elementary aged school children.  The website is designed to provide children with the opportunity to learn about fruits and vegetables in a fun and exciting manner.

    This site teaches the biology of cancer.

    This website introduces the on-line information available on cancer from Health Canada and provides links to general information on risk factors, cancer prevention, specific information by cancer type, statistical and epidemiological information and cancer treatment.

  • American Cancer Society
    This award-winning website provides information on all aspects of cancer, from nutrition and alternative therapies to coping and living well with cancer. Some information is intended for American readers only.
  • American Society of Clinical Oncology Online
    The information on ASCO OnLine represents the very latest in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. What makes the website distinctive is the fact that all of this information has been developed by ASCO members - leading oncologists who are active in clinical practice and research.
  • National Cancer Institute
    This no-nonsense website provides excellent, up-to-date information that is reliable. All files are based on current research and are approved by medical experts. Clinical trials, new cancer drugs, alternative therapy warnings and announcements are posted here.
  • National Comprehensive Cancer Network
    By accessing the NCCN Patient Information and Referral Service, you can receive help pinpointing resources among NCCN member institutions, including experts in pediatric oncology and genetic screening/testing; consultation and referral for difficult cases; and clinical trials offering the latest, most promising new treatments.
  • OncoLink®
    This site is reviewed by health care experts and provides helpful and accurate medical information. Some topics are intended for American readers. Mental Health / Psychosocial Oncology

  • Alberta Mental Health Board (AMHB)
    The AMHB is a provincial health board that receives its mandate from and reports to the Minister of Alberta Health and Wellness. In its role of advancing mental health for Alberta, the AMHB is involved in numerous initiatives, including advocacy, policy advice, working with the regional health authorities and stakeholders in the implementation of the Provincial Mental Health Plan, and collaborating with inter-provincial, national and international partners.
  • Canadian Association of Psychosocial Oncology (CAPO)
    Founded in 1987, CAPO/ACOP is an internationally recognized organization that actively pursues its goals of promoting excellence in clinical and research activities in psychosocial oncology. The organization was a partner in developing the Centre for Behavioural Research and Programs Evaluation of the National Cancer Institute, is a member of the Board of the National Cancer Institute, and in 1999 drafted and adopted a set of Canadian standards for psychosocial oncology.
