Fundraising / Alberta Cancer Foundation
Calgary -- In an unusual offstage display of their dancing talents, 27 ballerinas gathered at the Bankers Hall and performed.  Their goal: to raise awareness about The Weekend to End Breast Cancer benefiting the Alberta Cancer Foundation.

To emphasize the fact that 1 in 9 Canadian women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, 3 of the 27 ballerinas work pink tutus.

 Lance Armstrong 465 participants joined cycling legend Lance Armstrong in the Alberta Cancer Foundation’s first Tour of Courage, June 22-24, 2007. The event raised $1.2 million for cancer research, education, prevention and care for people throughout Alberta.

Cancer Screening Programs

Cancer Screening Programs Video Province-wide cancer screennig programs ensure as many Albertans as possible benefit from these life-saving tests.  These programs are being rolled out across the province.

FOBT test kit Colorectal cancer screening saves lives. The Alberta Cancer Board has launched a colorectal cancer screening program for all Albertans.

Treatment And Care

Edmonton…Dr. Gino Fallone and his team of medical physicists at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton are the first in the world to successfully take a magnetic resonance (MR) image at the same time radiation therapy is being delivered.

A new rapid access radiotherapy clinic to treat pain in patients whose cancer has spread to the bone was launched at the Cross Cancer Institute. The clinic is modeled on the successful Tom Baker Cancer Centre radiotherapy clinic in Calgary.
