Working Together for a Healthier Alberta
What does the future hold? If current trends continue, the rates of cancer incidence are expected to double in the next 20 years. But we can change this future.
Reducing cancer through better health
The Alberta Cancer Board's Cancer Prevention Program is working to reduce the burden of cancer and other chronic diseases on Albertans. By expanding current programs to focus on known risk factors and targeted populations, the Cancer Prevention Program has a unique opportunity to make a change in the future health of all Albertans.
With a special collaboration of research, innovative programming and a dedicated surveillance unit for monitoring progress, the Cancer Prevention Program is able to translate the science of cancer into the art of health promotion.
By partnering with Alberta's Health Regions and the Alberta Healthy Living Network and by drawing on the expertise of provincial, national, and international health professionals, the Cancer Prevention Program has the resources needed to impact projected rates of cancer and chronic disease incidence in the province.
The lasting legacy created by the expanded Cancer Prevention Program will touch the lives of Albertans for generations to come. See the links on the left for more information about specific prevention programs.
