Community Cancer Support Networks Directory

The Community Cancer Support Networks (CCSN) Directory (formerly the Psychosocial Oncology Network Directory) has been updated as of August 2008.  This document is intended to assist healthcare professionals in locating supportive care cancer-related programs throughout the province.

Talking to patients about the Internet

A recent Statistics Canada study found that almost 8.7 million Canadians searched for health-related information online, with almost a quarter of them searching for information on alternative remedies. Additionally, only 38% spoke with their health care professional about the information they found online . (Cited in Competiton Bureau of Canada's Health Fraud Awareness website.)

You may wish to point them instead to the complementary therapies section of the Alberta Cancer Board website, for reliable sources.
