Alberta Radiosurgery Centre
The Alberta Radiosurgery Centre is a unique program that is the first of its kind in Canada to offer dedicated stereotactic treatments for brain and extracranial sites.
In stereotactic radiotherapy, a number of precisely aimed beams of ionizing radiation are aimed from several directions and meet at a specific point to deliver the radiation treatment to that point.
Using cutting edge technology and a collaborative approach among specialties, the Alberta Radiosurgery Centre will offer treatment to patients with a variety of abnormalities in the brain. In the future it will treat sites elsewhere in the body.
The Alberta Radiosurgery Centre is a joint venture between the Alberta Cancer Board and the Calgary Health Region.
