CALL FOR PROPOSALS
The Alberta Cancer Research Institute
The Alberta Cancer Research Institute (ACRI) has been developed to enhance Alberta’s internationally recognized position as a leader in cancer research through the provincial coordination of cancer research programs and by conducting innovative cancer research across the cancer control continuum that includes etiology, prevention, detection, diagnosis, treatment, health services and palliation.
The objectives of ACRI are to (1) create an environment for collaborative work between cancer researchers in Alberta by bringing together researchers across disciplines and across institutions; (2) establish the infrastructure and resources to sustain the virtual provincial cancer research institute, and; (3) recruit and retain the highest caliber of cancer researchers and maintain an environment that supports and promotes their research activities.
ACRI Translation Research Group Grants – 2009-2010 Competition Cancelled
ACRI will not be offering the ACRI Translational Group Grant Competition in the 2009-2010 Year.

ACRI New Investigator Award – Cancellation
The Alberta Cancer Research Institute has evaluated the funding opportunities that it offers to cancer researchers in Alberta. The needs for support of new cancer researchers in Alberta are well met through various other ACRI funding opportunities, including the recently established ACRI Recruitment & Retention Awards. Therefore, the ACRI New Investigator competition is cancelled from this date forward.

PROSTATE CANCER RESEARCH
ENDOWED CHAIR
The “Frank and Carla Sojonky Prostate Cancer Research Chair” has recently been established within the Alberta Cancer Research Institute at the Cross Cancer Institute and the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Alberta. This position is open to all disciplines in cancer research and the Chair will have the opportunities and infrastructure to collaborate with a diverse and vibrant research community.

Alberta Cancer Research Institute - New Funding
Alberta Cancer Board has approved over $28 million in new funding for cancer research in Alberta with equal support from the Government of Alberta Cancer Prevention Legacy Fund and the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
