Central Alberta Cancer Centre

 

The Central Alberta Cancer Centre first opened in Red Deer in November 1982. In December 2005 it moved to its present location in the southwest corner of the Red Deer Regional Hospital. The 887 square metre Centre has 10 treatment chairs, five treatment beds, four exam rooms, a procedure room, quiet room, multiple offices, reception and health records area. The Central Alberta Cancer Centre serves a catchment population of 285,000 from across central Alberta.

  • Chemotherapy—all levels
  • Transfusion of blood products
  • Fluid replacement for dehydration
  • Pain management
  • Palliative treatment
  • Counselling and psychosocial support
  • Pediatric cancer care
  • Education for patients and families
  • Management and care of all venous access devices
  • Diagnostic imaging

The Central Alberta Cancer Centre refers all patients who need radiation treatment to either the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary or the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton.
